Suerte Tequila Reaches Deal on Purchase of Tequilera Simbolo Distillery

Suerte Tequila's co-founders Laurence Spiewak and Lance Sokol announced today that the brand has purchased the distillery that has been producing Suerte tequilas since the company’s inception. Spiewak and Sokol purchased the 15,000 square foot Tequilera Simbolo, located on 8.25 acres in the highlands of rural Atotonilco El Alto, Jalisco, Mexico, from the family of Suerte Master Distiller Pedro Hernandez Barba. Barba retains his ownership stake in Suerte and his position as master distiller.

“Lance and I feel privileged to know the family through our relationship with Pedro. While the distillery has been in operation for just short of a decade, the land on which it sits has been in Pedro’s family for nearly two hundred years. Though we now own the distillery from a transactional point of view, Pedro’s work with us means that in a sense the property stays in the family.” -  Suerte Tequila co-founder Laurence Spiewak
